Greetings from the Honey Creek Homeowners Association Board

The Honey Creek HOA Board is made up of volunteers – your neighbors who also live in Honey Creek. Like you, we want to keep our neighborhood running smoothly and looking good in order to maintain a high quality of life and preserve the value of our homes. We hope this newsletter will provide you with valuable information and resources.

Boats and Trailers Parked in Neighborhood

Boats, trailers and other recreational vehicles are not allowed to be parked in driveways or on the streets in our neighborhood for more than 24 hours. This is in accordance with CC&R 5.6 which can be found here: http://honeycreekridge.blogspot.com/p/cc-82912-updated.html . Please find another place to store these. Of course, this is to keep our neighborhood looking great and to preserve the values of our homes!  Thank you for complying. Violators will be cited in accordance with the CC&Rs.

Landscape Report

ProGrass (the landscapers who take care of Honey Creek common areas) will trim the lower tree branches in December. They will stack the branches in piles along the curb then come back to chip and remove all debris. ProGrass tested all of the backflow check valves within our irrigation system and forwarded the test reports to the City of Renton. The irrigation system has been winterized.

HOA Annual Meeting and 2016 Budget

The HOA annual meeting was held Tuesday, November 17th at Sierra Heights Elementary. Of the 100 homes in Honey Creek, a total of 16 people attended (representing 14 households) and we received 12 proxies (7 hard copies via mail, and 5 via e-mail). HOA bylaws state that each household represents one vote. Total votes = 26 . Quorum is 10% for an annual meeting, so we easily reached quorum at 26%. At the annual meeting, we reviewed and approved the expenses for 2015. New members of the board were elected. The proposed 2016 budget was approved, so dues will be $475 per home next year – invoices will be mailed to each homeowner mid-January.

There was discussion about the sidewalks buckling due to the trees that were planted when the neighborhood was developed 20 years ago – the City of Renton approved the trees that were planted, which are the wrong variety for such a small planting area next to our sidewalks. Mike Minato, head of our Landscape Committee, is working on this and is in discussion with the City of Renton about the possible options. We are in the investigative stage and will keep homeowners apprised of the situation as we gather more information.

Monthly HOA Board Meetings

The Honey Creek HOA Board meets the second Tuesday of every month at various board members’ homes. We are skipping December but will resume again on Tuesday, January 12th at 7:00pm (location to be determined). All Honey Creek neighbors are welcome to attend. Email the board at [email protected] in early January and we’ll let you know the location of the next board meeting.
